Firefox and Thunderbird under Gnome

A few themes and an extension that will integrate Firefox and Thunderbird nicely with Gnome:

  • Mozilla New Mail Icon (Biff) - a Thunderbird (and Mozilla Mail) extension that displays an icon in the system tray when new mail arrives
  • GNOME-Fx - a set of themes for Firefox which tries to let it look like a native GNOME application
  • GNOME-Tb - a port of the GNOME stock icons for Thunderbird; it does not have a home page, just a forum thread and a download link

It's a shame that none of these themes and extensions are listed on the Mozilla Update site. GNOME-Fx is listed, but only two Windows only themes show up there, which is kind of ironic, you can get a Gnome look under Windows but not under Gnome.

And this brings up an even bigger issue, most of the Firefox extensions I use are not listed on Mozilla Update and they are hard to find even on mozdev.org where some are hosted :-(

For example, diggler is listed on mozdev.org in the hard to notice list of inactive projects (the link to this page is only from the list of active projects, go figure). Since diggler works perfectly fine with the latest Firefox I am not sure why is it obscured like this. Add to this that there is no decent search on mozdev.org (or Mozilla Update).

Another example is SpellBound. Has its own page on SourceForge and it is really hard to find. Unless you know you are looking for SpellBound you won't find it.
